Customized family chart designs

Many regular customers have asked for this to be done and it is now a reality: Our famous family charts can now be customized in many ways.

Choose between rectangle, rounded rectangle or decide not to show boxes for individuals at all. Specify the color and thickness of the box border. Select between curved or bent connector lines and also specify their color and thickness.

Choose between gradients and flat designs for the box background. Choose from a variety of color designs to customize the look of your family charts. Available are uniform colors, colors by gender, colors based on FTM’s color coding or apply colors based on generation levels or pedigree.

Profile pictures within these charts can now be cropped to different shapes (rectangle, rounded rectangle, circle, pentagon, hexagon or octagon) and may have colored borders. And if you do not have a profile picture, optional silhouettes are offered to create a harmonious overall look.

New utility: Preview Window

The new Preview feature allows you to see the latest changes without having to recreate the entire book document.

The Preview window and the application window can be visible at the same time, which helps to visualize the difference after changing a setting in the application.

In the Preview window, use the 'Zoom in', 'Zoom out', and 'Fit to window width' buttons at the top of the viewer to enlarge or reduce the page. Use the buttons at the bottom to quickly navigate to the next or previous page.  

Use colors in text and family charts

As in previous releases, you can customize the appearance of text in paragraphs and family charts. Paragraph styles allow you to select the font, size, formatting (such as italic, bold, and underline), and alignment (left, right, centered, or justified) for specific text styles, including headings or surnames in family charts.

You asked for color settings and here they are. The new Family Book Creator 2024 now also allows you to specify the color used. An advanced drop-down color picker allows you to select colors from a predefined color palette. It is also possible to select any color using the RGB or HSB color model in the 'More colors' sub dialog.

Images with borders or soft edges

Pictures are now always included as shapes, allowing you to use different outlines.

If a shape defines transparency, e.g. if rounded rectangles or circles are used, the background of the page becomes visible. You may also choose the color or thickness of the outside border.

The highly requested "Soft Edge" effect allows a smooth transition to the page background.
